Your comics.
Reimagined.

Apex Comics is a premium reader for your personal collection — with reading analytics, weekly release tracking, panel-by-panel guided view, and X-Ray character intelligence powered by Comic Vine.

Reading insights

A dashboard for how you actually read

At the top of your Library, a live banner summarizes your collection and habits — the same card you see in the app, always in sync with your real progress.

  • Collection snapshot Total comics, finished issues, and titles still in progress — pulled straight from your library folders.
  • Automatic session tracking Reading time is logged in the background while you turn pages. Sessions under five seconds are ignored so quick flips don’t skew your data.
  • Peak reading period Apex analyzes when you read most — morning, afternoon, evening, or night — so you can spot your natural rhythm at a glance.
  • Cover-powered ambiance Set any issue as your app background and the banner blends a blurred version of its cover into the gradient — personal and immersive.

Reader

Immersive reading, your way

Full-screen by default. Pinch to zoom, swipe or tap to turn pages, pull at the end to open the next issue — then pick the layout that fits each comic.

Horizontal Default

Turn pages left to right — the classic comic flow. Tap the sides of the screen or swipe horizontally to move forward and back.

  • Best for Western comics and spreads meant to be read sideways
  • Works with pinch-to-zoom and the bottom progress ring
  • Pinch & double-tap to zoom
  • Circular progress at the bottom
  • Pull past the last page → next issue
  • Center tap opens menu & page timeline

Innovation

X-Ray — character intel while you read

Stuck on who someone is? X-Ray is a layered overlay on top of your comic — you never leave the reader. Apex looks up the current issue on Comic Vine, lists every character tied to it, then opens a full profile on tap.

  1. Trigger from the reader menu Center-tap to open the menu, then hit the X-Ray action — the comic stays visible behind a glass drawer.
  2. Characters matched to your issue The issue title is sent to Comic Vine; you get a scrollable list of names linked to that comic.
  3. Tap any name for the full sheet A second drawer slides in with aliases, origin story, powers, creators, birth date, and a short deck — same data as the screenshot, live from the API.
  4. Need more? Open the full description on a dedicated page when the summary isn’t enough — then close and pick up reading where you left off.

On each character profile

  • Name & real identity
  • Publisher, origin, gender, birth
  • Aliases (expandable)
  • Summary & full description
  • Powers & creators
