Terms of Service — Apex Comics

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Apex Comics, a mobile application provided by UPPR (“we”, “us”) for Android. By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The service

Apex Comics is a local comic reader. It lets you browse, organize, and read CBZ, CBR, and PDF files from storage you select on your device. Optional online features (such as weekly Discovery and X-Ray character information) depend on third-party APIs and an internet connection.

We may update, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable. The app is provided on an “as is” basis.

2. Your content and responsibilities

You are solely responsible for the comic files you add to the app and for complying with copyright and other laws that apply to those files.
Apex Comics does not provide, host, or distribute comic content. We do not monitor your personal library.
You must not use the app to infringe intellectual property rights or for unlawful purposes.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of your files and exported backup archives.

3. Free and Premium

Free tier includes core local reading and library features, with limitations on certain tools (such as full reading statistics, Guided View, Discovery, and X-Ray) and may include advertising via Google AdMob.

Premium is sold through Google Play as one-time in-app products (no Google Play subscription):

Premium lifetime (premium_lifetime) — permanent access after a single purchase.
30-day Premium pass (premium_pass_30d) — consumable purchase granting Premium features for 30 days; you may buy another pass later from the app. No automatic renewal.

Exact price and currency are shown in Google Play at the time of purchase and may vary by region or promotional period.

Purchases are tied to your Google account and handled under Google Play Terms of Service.
Use Restore purchases in the app if you reinstall or change devices, subject to Google Play rules.
Refunds are governed by Google Play policies; we do not process payments directly.

4. Third-party services

The app integrates with services we do not control, including but not limited to:

Google Play — distribution and billing;
Google AdMob — ads on the free tier;
Metron — Discovery release data;
Comic Vine — X-Ray metadata and character information;
Google ML Kit — on-device or cloud-assisted translation/OCR where enabled;
Aptabase — privacy-friendly product analytics;
GlitchTip — crash and error reporting for stability (see our Privacy Policy).

Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or content.

5. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Apex Comics for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms and the Google Play rules. You may not reverse engineer, redistribute, or resell the app except as allowed by applicable law.

The app, its branding, and underlying software are owned by UPPR or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

6. Disclaimers

Metadata from Metron, Comic Vine, or embedded ComicInfo files may be incomplete or inaccurate.
Guided View and translation features are automated and may misdetect panels or text.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, UPPR and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app shall not exceed the amount you paid us for Premium in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or fifty euros (€50) if you use only the free tier, whichever is greater where such a cap is allowed by law.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UPPR from claims arising out of your misuse of the app, your comic files, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if required by law or platform policy. Sections that by nature should survive (disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity) will survive termination.

10. Changes

We may modify these Terms. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or Play Store listing where appropriate. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence require otherwise. Courts in France shall have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes brought by us; consumers in the EU may also have rights to bring claims in their country of residence.
