Apex Comics 1.11.0: Powers & reader comfort
Hey everyone,
1.11.0 introduces Powers, a new place in the app for optional Premium add-ons you download when you want them, and ships the first Power: Bubble Pop-out. It also deepens reading comfort that follows the series you are in, not a single default for every title.
Powers (Premium)
Powers is the new catalog of optional smart features that stay out of the base install. Open Settings → Powers to browse what is available, see pack size and status, and manage downloads. Everyone can open the page and see what is coming; Premium unlocks download, enable, disable, and updates. Each Power is an on-device add-on: download it once, toggle it off without deleting files, or remove the pack entirely when you no longer need it. When a newer pack is required, Premium gets a non-dismissible update modal and the download continues in the background while you keep reading. The APK stays lean; you only pull the packs you choose. More Powers will land on this same page over time.
Bubble Pop-out (first Power)
The first Power in the catalog is Bubble Pop-out. With Guided View off, long-press a speech balloon: the same ink lifts off the page with a clean cutout and soft shadow, then you can move balloon to balloon without breaking your flow. Detection runs on your device after the pack download, so your pages stay private. If the pack is missing or needs an update, the reader points you to download it instead of a silent no-op. Download Bubble Pop-out from Settings → Powers when you are ready to try it.
Reader settings per series
Direction (Western / Manga), navigation mode, 1 or 2 pages, and page fit can now stick to a series, or to a single book when there is no series. Change them in the reader menu as usual; when you close the menu, a short snackbar lets you save for the whole app or for this series (or this book). If you ignore it, Apex uses the silent default from Settings → Reader (App by factory default). Those overrides come back the next time you open that series, travel with backup and Premium multi-device sync, and leave tap zones, animation, volume keys, trim, orientation lock, and image quality as app-wide prefs.
Discovery meets your library
Discovery now shows which issues you already own, right on the cover and in the detail sheet — resolved automatically as you browse, follow, or read. Following a series is easier too: confirm the catalog match once straight from your library, no more guessing, and Discovery search results can now be followed directly as well. You can also pin your favorite publishers so they stay first in the filter row, for a sharper weekly focus.
Two-column Settings on bigger screens
On tablets and unfolded foldables, Settings now splits into two columns: your list of sections on the left, the selected section's controls on the right, so switching sections no longer means losing your place. On a book-style foldable, the divider lines up with the physical crease.
Peek and zoom in Guided View
Long-press to peek at the full page without leaving Guided mode. Pinch with two fingers to zoom in and lock the view — tap or press back to close it.
Curl 3D reading mode
Turn pages with a realistic, physically animated 3D curl instead of a plain slide. It now sits right in the reader's navigation mode list, alongside Horizontal, Vertical, Dual, and Webtoon — no separate switch to dig for in Settings anymore.
Komga reading lists (Premium)
Reading lists you build on your Komga server now show up as their own rail at the top of that library, in the exact order you set on the server — never mixed in as another filter tab. Tap Binge to start from where you left off and read straight through the list, issue after issue. New setting under Settings → Libraries → Komga server lets you turn the rail off if you would rather not see it.
Download a whole section for offline reading (Komga)
Long-press any section header on a Komga library and pick Download section to fetch every comic in it at once, for offline reading. A live counter next to the section title shows progress (downloaded / total), a few files download in parallel, and a single failed file never blocks the rest of the batch.
Download / update
The rollout may take a few hours depending on your region.
